Ammonite Fossil Ear Posts

A real conversation piece - that goes very nice with all of the lovely fall colors.  A genuine Ammonite fossil in ear post setting of Solid Sterling .925 Silver.  We actually have a very nice ring that match this nicely too.

Ammonites are an extinct group of marine mollusks that died out around the same time as the dinosaurs.  Visible in this ring is the mollusk shell with multiple chambers, and each chamber separated by what's called a "septa".  The mollusk would actually only live in one chamber (the largest) and would keep adding to the spiral shell shape as it grew. One of the more fascinating a beautiful designs in nature !
